Caseworker

St. Catherineís Center for Children is a leading not-for-profit human service agency offering a broad array of human service programs in Albany, NY, and the surrounding counties.  We have immediate openings for part time or on-call caseworkers in our Community Based Services programs.   Positions are available in Albany, Columbia, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties.

 This position provides concrete outreach and advocacy services to developmentally disabled parents,  mental health clients and/or their children; provides supportive case management, mentoring and guidance to children; assists parents/children in developing their social support system, provides direct respite services to children and families enrolled in the various respite programs, responsible for required documentation.

Requirements include: BA in Human Services or Social Work and a minimum of 2 years related experience, clean and valid NYS driverís license, ability to work with developmentally disabled and/or mental health clients, the ability to work flexible hours to accommodate client schedules; and the ability to relate to a culturally diverse population.  EOE

Child Care Specialist

We have immediate openings for Child Care Specialists, which are on-call positions at our Group Homes. St. Catherineís Center for Children is looking for bright, creative, energetic employees to work with children with special needs in a residential setting.  We offer a competitive hourly rate. Facility Coordinator - Homeless Program

We are currently seeking a Facility Coordinator for our Homeless Program. The Facility Coordinator performs a wide variety of administrative and supervisory tasks to ensure effective management of daily operations of the shelter. General duties include, but are not limited to;

         Working closely, and in conjunction, with the Assistant Director in the management of daily operations

         Supervising staff (Receptionist, Van Driver, overnight workers, etc)

         Managing scheduling of staff trainings, ensuring compliance with agency regulatory requirements, and ensuring that all staff are up to date with necessary trainings

         Maintaining databases and records regarding daily census, pantry requests, transportation, etc.

         Intervening, assisting in conflict resolution, and providing mediation in crisis situations

         Processing reports as necessary

         Ordering supplies

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: 

         Associates degree required, Bachelorís degree preferred

         Strong administrative, organizational, and project management skills

         3 yearsí experience in homeless services

         1 year experience in supervisory role

         Advanced computer skills, including MS Word and Excel

         Strong Communication and interpersonal skills

         Strong attention to detail in reviewing records and data

         Compassion, willingness, and ability to work with the population we serve

         A high level of flexibility in a fast-paced,  ever-changing environment

Housing Specialist

The opening is at Marillac, and Permanent Supported Housing programs.  This position is approximately 60% Marillac Housing Specialist and 40% Supported Housing Case Manager.

The Housing Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance to case managers at Marillac to successfully house homeless families.  The work of the Housing Specialist and Case Management Team supports and facilitates familiesí ability to participate in an active housing search. The Housing Specialist will coordinate service delivery to families through a large network of area service providers to help them secure permanent housing.

The Housing Specialist is responsible for the timely entry of all required HMIS documentation.

Requirements include: BSW or Bachelorís degree in related field and 2 years related experience.  An Associates of Arts with 5 or more years of relevant experience may be substituted at the discretion of the Director of Homeless Services.  Clean and valid NYS Drivers license and the ability to meet criteria as outlined in the Revised Policy for Agency Drivers. Mental Health Aide

The Mental Health Aide is responsible for the direction and supervision of one particular child, who requires one to one assistance in order to participate safely in the program and engage in learning activities. The students in the Day Treatment program range from 5 to 13 years old, and have learning, behavioral, social, and emotional difficulties. Required: GED/High School Diploma and a clean and valid NYS Driverís License. AAS or BA degree in human services field preferred. EOE

Overnight Maintenance/Resident Assistant-Temp

Needed for our homeless shelter. The position is a temporary position which could become permanent. The duties of the position are: to perform tasks necessary to maintain the physical appearance and functioning of the building and property; serve to ensure a safe, secure, healthy, clean and positive environment for families residing in facility; and maintain respect, support, care, and a family atmosphere for residents of the facility and fellow staff members.

Requirements are: HS diploma or GED equivalent, a valid NYS Driver License and the ability to meet agency driving criteria. Needs to be physically capable of performing heavy work.  EOE

Principal of the R&E May School

We are looking for a creative and high energy individual for the R & E May School.  The Principal is responsible for the organization, planning, administration and evaluation of our 853 licensed education program.  The Principal also ensures that the curriculum meets the standards set by the NYS Education Department and other regulatory bodies. 

Requirements include a MA degree in Education/ Special Education, NYS Certification in School Administration, knowledge of NYS Education Department standards and special education requirements and a clean and valid NYS Driverís License.  Five years of experience in a special education setting with teaching, supervisory and/ or program planning experience preferred.  EOE

Receptionist/Front Desk Monitor

We are currently seeking a Receptionist/Front Desk Monitor for the Marillac homeless shelter in Albany.  The receptionist assists the Facility Coordinator with a wide variety of administrative tasks related to the effective management of daily operations of the shelter.  Tasks include, but are not limited to, serving client needs, supply inventory monitoring/ordering, maintaining records of clients and daily census. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

                      Establish and maintain professional working relationships with staff members, service providers, community resource people, and residents according to all agency procedures, policies, and practices.

                      Monitor the ordering of supplies that are needed to operate the shelter effectively.

                      Ensure that all records are accurate and completed in a timely manner

                      Provide typing, word processing and filing for Homeless Family Program.

                      Ensure a safe, secure, healthy environment by reporting situations which need attention and provide follow-up as needed.

                      Intervene in crisis situations and assist in conflict resolution as needed by providing mediation and facilitating communication.

                      Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Facility Coordinator

                      Communicate program issues and concerns to the Facility Coordinator.

Residential Child Care Support Specialist - Full Time

St. Catherineís Center for Children is a leading not-for-profit human service agency offering a broad array of human service programs in Albany, NY, and the surrounding counties. We currently have an opening for a Child Care Support Specialist in our Residential Department.

 A Residential Child Care Support Specialist is needed for our Residential Program for boys and girls age 13 and under. The Residential Child Care Support Specialist is under the direction of the Unit Supervisor and is responsible for providing support, coaching, and instruction to the Child Care Staff along with assisting them in creating and maintaining a therapeutic environment and to assist in their professional development.  The Residential Child Care Support Specialist will provide guidance and instruction to the Child Care Staff in the use of therapeutic behavioral interventions that are grounded in Time Critical Intervention (TCI), trauma theory and other best practices models.  The Residential Child Care Support Specialist is responsible for helping to ensure that specific behavioral interventions and strategies outlined are consistently carried out by the Child Care Professionals and will also assist supervisors, assistant supervisors and lead staff to support consistency and implementation of daily routine and procedures in order to sustain a safe therapeutic treatment environment


Requirements include: Bachelorís degree. Minimum of two years of experience working directly with special needs children. Clean and valid New York State Drivers License TCI Trainer Certification, preferred. EOE

Teacher Assistant

The Teacher Assistant works with the Master Teacher to develop and implement classroom educational programs in a Day Treatment program. The children are from 5 years old to 13 years old, and have learning, behavioral, social, and emotional difficulties. The Teacher Assistant directs the students throughout the day, managing the classroom and providing crisis intervention as needed. Required: GED/High School Diploma.
