What
is Respite?
Respite
is care provided by skillful adults, specially trained to manage the
intensive needs of seriously emotionally disturbed children.
The purpose of Respite is to provide a child’s caregivers
and other family members with a short period of relief to become
refreshed and re-energized so they may continue the day-to-day
responsibility of parenting.
|
|
Benefits
of Respite:
Parents/guardians who
utilize Respite services experience a sense of relief from the
intense demands placed upon them.
Family members develop a more positive attitude about family
life. The child feels
more positive about his/her family and develops a greater sense of
self-esteem and independence. Respite
allows a family the break it needs to work on achieving family
stability.

How
do I utilize Respite services?
Each
respite program has specific criteria that the family must meet in
order to be eligible. Referrals
