Residential
Programs |
|
| St.
Catherine's Residential Programs assist children to adjust and
live with early life traumas, losses, and handicaps.
Intensive and individualized treatment services which incorporate
the child's educational, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs
are offered in a setting which is sensitive to the developmental
issues of each child in care. With regard to discharge
planning, reunification with the child's family of origin is the
first option. When reunification with the family is not
possible, St. Catherine's collaborates with referring agencies to
develop permanent family resources with the goal of assuring that
each child is living within the most normalizing setting
possible. |
|
| St.
Catherine's group living program offers an array of services aimed
at meeting the individual needs of each child in the
program. Treatment takes place within both a group setting,
as well as in a one-to-one setting. The living environment
is designed to provide individualized treatment through the
identification of the child's strengths and problem areas. Daily life for each child is designed for success and preparation
for return to family living.
Family treatment for those
families who will be receiving their children home upon discharge
is an essential aspect of the program services of group
care. Supervised visits, parent training, brief and extended
home visits, as well as family treatment in the home are the
basics for all families who will be receiving their children at
discharge.

|
| The
Residential Programs serve Children
between the ages of 5 and 13 years who have been removed from
their families. Those who require 24 hour supervised care are the
population of the residential programs within St.
Catherine's. Children are accepted in care based on their
need for an intensive and therapeutic residential
experience. Children whose needs are not so severe that they
require 24 hour supervised care will not be admitted to these
programs. |
|
| St.
Catherine's considers referrals primarily from local Departments
of Social Services throughout upstate New York, from Family Courts
(through the Probation Departments), and from school districts
through Chapter 853 referrals. |
