A Note from St. Catherine's Executive Director Regarding COVID-19
From all of us here at St. Catherine’s, we hope you and your loved ones are and will remain healthy.
Like everyone else, the outbreak of COVID-19 has required St. Catherine’s to address how we conduct business in the days and weeks ahead. The children, families, and adults we serve, as well as our devoted staff, remain our highest priorities. Please be assured that our dedicated staff is working diligently to provide our clients with the vital services they need, while taking every precaution to remain safe amid growing public health concerns.
Like other human service organizations, we have instituted staff reductions for those not involved in direct client care. We are also adhering to both voluntary guidance and public mandates that address social distancing and the effort to minimize public gatherings.
For the immediate future, St. Catherine’s has made changes in upcoming events and programs which involve public interaction with our organization:
Kickin’ It for the Kids, a public event scheduled for Saturday, April 4, has been postponed. We are evaluating possible dates for the event during the summer.
Our Casino Royale Spring Gala, scheduled for Friday, May 1, is also postponed. We are evaluating possible dates in the fall. All sponsorship and ticket sales will still be honored, regardless of postponement date.
Our 2nd Annual Dr. Arthur Wallingford Memorial Golf Outing has a tentative date of Monday, June 29. We are moving ahead and planning for the event while we continue to monitor COVID-19 news and updates. All sponsorship and player registrations will still be honored, regardless of whether the event is held as scheduled or is postponed.
We have clothing donation bins located at two sites: 30 North Main Avenue and 195 Washington Avenue Extension in Albany. Other than clothing donations at these sites, St. Catherine’s is not accepting in-kind donations of any other kind in the immediate future. We will evaluate the situation regularly to determine when we can begin accepting in-kind donations again.
St. Catherine’s has postponed all volunteer projects in the near future. We will evaluate the situation on a regular basis to determine the best time that we can begin accepting volunteers again. If you wish to set up a volunteer project at a later date, feel free to email our Volunteer Coordinator, Nicole Vaccarino, at email@example.com.
The well-being of our clients and staff are paramount to St. Catherine’s Center for Children, and so is the health of our community. These are trying times and we know, working together, that we can overcome the challenges we face. St. Catherine’s serves thousands of children, adults and families each year, and none of it would be possible without the support of our friends and neighbors in the Capital Region. Despite the current situation, we remain dedicated to our mission of bringing Hope for Tomorrow to vulnerable children, families, and adults, and we remain grateful for your continuing support and understanding.
Frank Pindiak, Executive Director, St. Catherine’s Center for Children
