Local human services organization honored for work performed on behalf of children and families.

ALBANY, N.Y. – At a ceremony this week, held at The Skinny Pancake in Albany, St. Catherine’s Center for Children was presented with the Hon. Anthony V. Cardona Award by the Friends of Albany Children’s Center. St. Catherine’s was nominated for the award by Family Court Judge Susan Kushner for its numerous community-based programs and homeless services as well as the partnership between its Access & Visitation program and Albany County Family Court.

“This is an incredible honor for our organization to receive. We are so proud of this award, especially to be associated with the name of the late Judge Cardona who was widely known for the wonderful work he did on behalf of children and families,” said St. Catherine’s Deputy Executive Director Brian Perotto. “Our dedicated team is always working to provide a safe environment for children, and I think Judge Cardona would be proud of what we have accomplished. I’d like to give special credit to Wendy Crookes and Griffin Morris who led our Access & Visitation program.”

This annual event is held, and an award presented in the same name, to honor the life and career-long efforts of Hon. Anthony V. Cardona. Judge Cardona spent his career advocating for children and families and left behind a legacy of integrity, service, and commitment to justice. The award is presented to individuals and organizations who exemplify the same values. Additional honorees at this year’s ceremony include Jeff Kennedy, Esq. and Katherine Vogel, Esq.

“St. Catherine’s was an easy choice to receive the Cardona Award,” said Hon. Susan M. Kushner. “St. Catherine’s exemplifies, through its’ services and support to children and families, the principles that Judge Cardona

stood for throughout his extraordinary service on the Bench. St. Catherine’s has been a true partner to Albany County Family Court’s initiatives, including its Supervised Parenting Visitation program.”

St. Catherine’s Center for Children’s Deputy Executive Director, Brian Perrotto was on hand at the annual event to accept the award from the Friends of Albany Children’s Center.

The willingness of St. Catherine’s Center for Children to embrace change and develop new services is, and will remain, our guiding philosophy as we support human service needs, throughout the region, by providing a comprehensive range of services designed to offer hope, foster growth and improve the lives of the children, families and adults we serve.
