Agency is one of 1,800 COA Accredited organizations in the U.S., Canada and beyond.

ALBANY, N.Y. – St. Catherine’s Center for Children, a Capital Region-based, comprehensive human services organization, recently achieved reaccreditation with the Council on Accreditation. St. Catherine’s completed a nearly year-long internal review process which culminated in an independent and objective verification against standards of best practice. This review assessed every program, department and process within the Agency to ensure complete compliance with COA standards.

“This is a great achievement for St. Catherine’s Center for Children and our dedicated team,” said Agency Executive Director Cindy Kouhout. “This accreditation inspires confidence in our team, it assures the public that they will receive the best care with our agency, and it demonstrates to the State, our generous donors, and all of our stakeholders that St. Catherine’s is an organization worthy of their investment. We’re very proud of this accreditation! A special thank you to our Chief Compliance Officer Kirsten Trevino and her team for leading us through this rigorous process.”

COA Accreditation signifies to external stakeholders that St. Catherine’s adheres to best practices and meets a high standard. Internally, the review that leads to accreditation ensures that resources are being managed effectively and processes are efficient.

“On behalf Social Current, I would like to congratulate St. Catherine’s Center for Children on achieving COA reaccreditation. Achieving reaccreditation is a major milestone, involving a highly rigorous process and demonstrates their organizational commitment to provide the highest-level of services to the communities they serve. Congratulations again to all of their staff who made this milestone possible and thank you for all that you do, each and every day, to facilitate a positive and lasting impact on the lives of all that you serve,” said Social Current president and CEO Jody Levison-Johnson, PhD, LCSW.

“We’re very pleased to have received notice of our reaccreditation,” said Chief Compliance Officer Kirsten Trevino. “The process is a lengthy one and it requires each department within our agency to assess its current practices to determine whether they meet specific standards. This is the best way to ensure we provide excellent care to those we serve. COA Accreditation also provides an extra layer to the credibility St. Catherine’s has developed while serving the region for nearly 140 years.”

COA Accreditation, now a service of Social Current, accredits the full spectrum of social and human services organizations with more than 1,800 accredited organizations in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and military bases spread throughout the world. St. Catherine’s Center for Children has been COA Accredited since 1996.

The willingness of St. Catherine’s Center for Children to embrace change and develop new services is, and will remain, our guiding philosophy as we support human service needs, throughout the region, by providing a comprehensive range of services designed to offer hope, foster growth and improve the lives of the children, families and adults we serve.
