ALBANY, N.Y. – Today, St. Catherine’s Center for Children and the Albany FireWolves, the Capital Region’s professional box lacrosse franchise, announced that they have officially entered into a three-year partnership. Since their arrival in Albany, the FireWolves have made it a point of emphasis to engage with local non-profits, schools and other community organizations to support the mission of those groups while spreading the game of lacrosse to those who have not had the opportunity to experience it.

A Capital Region sports team and social services organization are celebrating a new partnership.
The Albany FireWolves, a box lacrosse team playing at MVP Arena in Albany, and St. Catherine’s Center for Children have signed an agreement allowing children in the program to attend home games for free. St. Catherine’s Executive Director Cindy Kouhout says the partnership is unlocking great opportunities.
St. Catherine’s Joins with CARES of NY, Albany County, City of Albany to Launch Albany Navigates

ALBANY, N.Y. – Today, a joint press conference was held at the Albany Public Library, on Washington Ave., to announce the public launch of the Albany Navigates Health & Housing program – a joint effort between host program CARES of NY, Inc., St. Catherine’s Center for Children, Albany County, the City of Albany, the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society and Joseph’s House & Shelter. The program, which officially started in June of this year, aims to address the growing issue of homelessness and adjacent issues in Albany County by bringing together organizations already working to end housing insecurity and combining their efforts. Albany County and the City of Albany are funding the program by investing $1.8 million over three years.

The American Recovery Plan Act grant, which totals $150,000, comes from the Albany County Community Development Grant Program. The funds will enable Pathways to Health & Housing to continue direct outreach and engagement in the community. Pathways is a street outreach program serving at-risk people who typically do not have access to or seek primary and behavioral healthcare services on their own.

St. Catherine’s Awarded $20,000 KeyBank Grant to Support Award-winning Kinship Care Program
ALBANY, N.Y. – Recently, the KeyBank Foundation announced that St. Catherine’s Center for Children is the recipient of a $20,000 grant to support the continued work of its award-winning Kinship Care program and aid local low- to moderate-income families. The program provides kinship families with resources and programming to help them thrive. Kinship is a subset of foster care in which family members or close family friends assume the responsibility for and care of a child that has been removed from their biological parents, as an alternative to traditional foster care placement.
